Makeda McCreary
Makeda McCreary is a musician and songwriter from Richmond, Virginia. Currently, she serves as the Worship and Arts Director at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Moseley, Virginia. Makeda found her passion for music while riding in the car with her father as a child and listening to Gospel, Jazz, and Earth Wind and Fire albums. She went on to study classical piano at Shenandoah Conservatory and Contemporary Music Production at Berklee College of Music. One of her most meaningful experiences has been her time with Arrabon, an organization designed to equip and empower communities for reconciliation. Through Arrabon she served as the Creative Director for the Urban Doxology Songwriting Internship and had the privilege of traveling across the country teaching songwriting, worship leading skills, bridge building through music and worship, and equipping worship leaders to write intentionally for their communities. In addition to music, Makeda loves a good cup of coffee, game nights with friends, and candles. She is excited to join the UWF family again and is looking forward to worshipping with everyone.

Carrie Gruhn
Carrie is a lay servant at St. John United Methodist Church in Anchorage and helps with special youth group events. In August, she led the music and Alaska’s first Soul Care Retreat. At home, Carrie shares space with her husband, two college students, two gerbils, and a bearded dragon Carrie Gruhn has been performing music in secular and worship settings since she was young. Carrie had lessons in classical and contemporary music into college. She began teaching music, primarily piano, in Anchorage and Eagle River, Alaska in the late '90s. Carrie is a multi-instrumentalist and has experience with piano, woodwinds, ukulele, bass, guitar, and vocals. Right now, Carrie's favorite instrument is mandolin. Carrie also performs locally as keyboard and vocalist with a jazz band, the A-Town Sharps.
